Music and Morocco

Traveling around Morocco it is easy to see the influence on pop culture and music of the sixties. Writers, rock musicians, artists drifted through the Medina of Marrakesh and the beaches of Essaouira on Morocco's Atlantic coast with it's Medina protected by 18th century seafront ramparts that look much like castles on the shore. Legend has it that Jimmy Hendrix while in the area, wrote "Castles Made of Sand". Seeing the area, it is not hard to imagine. It is a good story, and certainly a great song. It was a favorite trip and place to photograph, including a trek into the High Atlas mountains
